Installation

System Requirements

1. Operating system: Windows 2000/XP (preferred), MacOS 10.3.1+, Linux, Solaris
2. Graphics hardware: at least nVidia GeForce 2, ATI Radeon 7000 or similar with 32 MB of video memory
3. Amount of system memory: at least 256 MB

Software Requirements

1. Java runtime environment (JRE 1.4.2 or above. It should be automatically installed when you click on the install button below). In case of problems, please go here to install j2re1.4.2_04 (see how-to in FAQ below).
2. Java 3D 1.3 (openGL version) (Should be automatically installed when you click the install button below). In case of problems, please go here to intall java3D-1_3 runtime (see how-to in FAQ below).

FAQ

1. I see the following message while installing the application, what should I do?

Tip: Java3d is not installed on your computer, please install java3d.

2. From the pdb site, I clicked on the link to see ligand interactions. I saw the following screen; after I clicked on yes/always, I waited but nothing happened.

Tip: Check if you have an older version (lower than j2re1.4.2) of JRE installed. If so, uninstall it and reinstall the newer version JRE and then install java3d. Then make sure on your browser Java is enabled and pointing to the correct JRE.

3. The installation seems to be successful, but when I run the application, I don't see the left panel and get a message in the status bar saying "Failed to load structure...Please try another one."?

Tip: Check if you have an older version (lower than j2re1.4.2) of JRE installed. If so, uninstall it and reinstall the newer version JRE and then install java3d.

4. How do I install java runtime environment(JRE)?

Tip: Follow the following screenshots.

Select "Download J2SE JRE".

Click on "Accept" then continue.

Choose the right version for your platform then download.

 

5. How do I install java3d?

Tip: Follow the following screenshots.

Click on download for "Download Java 3D 1.3.1 Software".

Go to "proceed without login" then click on "download".

Click on "Accept" then continue.

Choose the right openGL version "Runtime for the JRE" for your platform then download.
